The trinidad+tobago film festival (ttff) has today announced its ttff/13 New Media programme, which is co-curated and presented with ARC Magazine and will take place from 20–27 September at Medulla Art Gallery, a venue partner of the Festival. Now in its third year, New Media features experimental films, video art and performances. The programme opens on 20 September at 6.00pm at Medulla with a live projection event by Jamaican artist Olivia McGilchrist. This year, New Media will adopt an exhibition-style screening format, where the majority of selected works, with a total running time of 100 minutes, will be played on a loop daily from 11.00am–4.00pm, 21–27 September. These daily screenings will be complemented by a number of special evening events, including a closing night performance by Trinidadian artist, Rodell Warner, on the evening of 27 September. - See more at: http://arcthemagazine.com/arc/2013/08/thirty-six-new-media-works-to-screen-at-2013-trinidadtobago-film-festival/#sthash.x4xQPqWM.dpuf

Short films will be screened in a special screening programme to mark World Peace Day. The premiere screening will be introduced by Artistic Director Giulia Grassilli who will describe the Films4Peace project global scope and mission. Films4Peace screenings will be followed by the film The General by Clyde Bruckman & Buster Keaton (USA, 1926), a major classic of the silent era - a subtle anti-war film that through irony and comedy presents the futile nature of the actions of every soldier and so speaks to the futile nature of war. The film screening event will be accompanied by live piano classical film music.

Our screening is a one hour event with interactive sessions, spoken word, and talks from media personalities. John Edgar will moderate the interactive sessions where the audience can give their varried interpretations of films4peace. Patricia Wendy - a student at United States International University - will do a poetic piece on peace. Naisula Lesuula - a journalist - will deliver an inspiring talk on peace, with key reference to her peaceful engagements at the recently Turmoiled Tana Delta. There will also be a talk by Rebecca Muiruri - who was also involved in the active planing of our event - on defying our differences to embrace peace. We will end with a vote of thanks done by Jane Wahome - one of Shapelife Productions Executive Directors - who was actively involved in the planning of our films4peace event.
